POLI•RANT: Trump is Still Putin’s Bitch
Do we need him to admit guilt under oath to accept what's happening here?

“I used to wonder about that myself. Thought it was a bunch of mumbo jumbo. A magical power holding together good and evil, the dark side and the light. Crazy thing is... it's true. The Force, the Jedi. All of it. It's all true.”— Han Solo, The Force Awakens
We are indeed living in a galaxy far, far away. A galaxy where an American President is (and has been) compromised by Russia.
As Trump (again) blatantly sides with Dictator Putin and throws Ukraine into the bear den and at the mercy of Europe, it’s a good time to briefly remind folks how we got to this despicable and sad point in American history. I’m not diving too deep here, but a few highlights.
When did it all begin?
The likely answer to that is 1987 when Trump made his first trip to Russia to try to secure development deals in Moscow. This was at the height of the Cold War and based on former US intelligence experts, it would be impossible for Trump not to meet with KGB agents, even if he didn’t know it. That was the nature of the game.
In fact, last week a former high-ranking KGB agent posted on social media that Trump was recruited by Russia on that trip.
As the The Hill reported:
“The allegation would, if true, be a bombshell. Mussayev provides no documentary evidence —but then how could he? He alleged that Trump’s file is in Vladimir Putin’s hands.”
But recruited how?
I’ve read some reporting by former US intelligence officials that said that it doesn’t necessarily mean Trump was some sort of Russian spy at 40. Indeed, Russia used people from the West for many reasons, sometimes only as an informal information sources to give them insights into US political and business happenings.
Oddly though, not long after that trip, Trump took out a series of ads in the New York Times criticizing NATO for not paying enough for their own security.
Sound familiar?
Fast forward nearly 30 years to 2016 and Trump has secured the Republican nomination. His campaign manager was Paul Manafort — a shady operative who had spent the last decade being paid to advise pro-Russian slime balls and dictators in Europe, Ukraine included.
The Republican platform prior to 2016 had strong anti-Russian language that was mysteriously removed. We know what happened that summer when the general election against Clinton kicked in. The Russians broke into the DNC servers and stole all their emails which were then leaked for the remainder of the campaign.
Far less reported is the fact that the Russians also hacked the RNC. Whatever they got they simply sat on. I wonder why?
We also know from the Muller report that the Trump team met with Russians and shared campaign polling data. And not just any polling data. Deep data and demographics that Russia then used to target specific groups in specific states on social media. All of this was proven by Muller.
While it will never be quantifiable, common sense dictates that this alone could have swung Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania where much of the targeting took place.
Then there’s the Steele Dossier.
I’m not going to get in the weeds here, but barely any of it has been proven wrong — pretty incredible for raw information of that nature.
As you may remember, Christopher Steele was a well-respected former MI6 agent who became a private spy, instead of eye. Steele (who had deep contacts with former and current Russian spies) was originally hired by Republicans to dig up dirt on Trump in the 2016 primary.
None of it came to light because Trump rolled over all of them. Little Marco included.
McCain heard about the dossier by a British official at a security conference in Nova Scotia after the primaries. While the Republican primary benefactor was gone, what Steele had found concerned him enough to reach out to current British officials through back channels.
"Our impromptu meeting felt charged with a strange intensity," McCain wrote. "No one wise-cracked to lighten the mood. We spoke in lowered voices. The room was dimly lit, and the atmosphere was eerie."
“It all seemed "too strange a scenario to believe" at first, he wrote, but the six-term senator felt that "even a remote risk that the President of the United States might be vulnerable to Russian extortion had to be investigated."
McCain was so shaken by the revelations that he immediately sent one of his most trusted aides to England to personally get the dossier, get on a plane, and physically bring it to him.
The bottom line of the Steele Dossier was that Trump was compromised by the Russians and that they had kompromat (compromising) information on him. I’ve read the report and when it comes to what I think happened between Trump and the Russians — I’m in the general all of it, Han Solo camp.
Subsequent reporting also uncovered a ton of questionable financial ties between Trump and Russians over many years, something Robert Muller did not investigate. In a nut shell: The Trump Org was basically a money laundering system for Russian mobsters.
I’ll spare you all that because we know what happened.
Trump won, the Muller Report was knee-capped, and Trump went on to bend over in public for Putin and (alone) 100% took his side on every issue. Leading up to 2020 he was back on Manfort’s old stomping grounds (Ukraine) trying to dig up dirt on Biden and threatening newly-elected President Zelensky to help him in exchange for aid.
And yes, it has since been proven that the basis of all those Biden lies were actually planted by a Russian agent.
Trump and his allies have now spent more than eight years discrediting the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. But every single action by Trump, every one, points to a man compromised. Not only did he attack NATO in his first term, but he sided with the murderous dictator Putin at every opportunity — no time more embarrassing than his gimp-like performance bowing to Putin in Helsinki, Finland in front of the whole world.
Until today.
Now here we are in Trump 2.0. President Zelensky, NATO, and the United States have kept Russia at bay after their brutal invasion of Ukraine three years ago. Zelensky has become a global symbol of democracy and freedom. And the entire MAGA media machine has been relentlessly spreading lies about President Zelensky and everything about anything we did to help under Biden.
Today Trump humiliated him in the Oval Office, spewing lies and joined in the tag-team ambush by his lap dog vice president.
It’s the most embarrassing incident in that sacred office likely since it was constructed during the presidency of John Adams. It signifies the most radical and dangerous change in American foreign policy since World War II.
And everything Russia could have ever asked for.
