I love movie posters. So much so that I have nine in my living room, six of which I rotate on a semi-regular basis. I have two holidays (Halloween and Christmas) that I account for, but beyond that I usually change things up every four months or so.
I haven’t counted lately, but I think my collection is at about 100. I randomly choose the collection but try to keep a number of factors in mind to keep things mixed up: Era, style, and color palette.
For more popular movies/posters I also try to look for some foreign or lesser-known versions.
Here’s what’s on the wall now that Christmas has been banished to the basement:
Classic movie, classic poster. The style here is very much of the 80s with a near photo realistic painting that gives an overview of two of the main characters and look of the film.
There’s a much more popular version of poster for this movie. I picked this because I loved the cartoon style and bold colors which I always like in the mix.
There’s a series of these, each featuring one of the main characters. Since Bridges is “the dude” in the movie, I picked him to represent it.
Here’s one of the rare original posters I own. I still had it dry-mounted because it’s such an obscure movie that it’s not valuable. It’s a great gem of a documentary that I highly suggest watching.
I probably have six to eight Hitchcock poster, the same for Woody Allen and Wes Anderson. I did a Wes collection once. I have three posters on either side of out TV. Might do a 3 and 3 director collection next.
I love this poster. Just a beautiful work of art. Also,. the photo doesn’t do justice to the repeating pattern in the background that give it a lovely depth.
